Project X

Project X: sounds so serious! But in reality, it’s a project I’m considering, and I can’t come up with a good name for it. Anyhow, the point of this project is to allow me to write more, as I’m still not writing as much as I would like to (a word a week wasn’t as effective as I thought it would be…).

This project draws inspiration from an English class assignment I got a long time ago: to write a fairytale from the antagonist’s point of view. I was recently thinking about the story I wrote, from the wolf’s perspective in Little Red Riding Hood. This got me thinking: what if antagonists in other fairy tales aren’t as bad as they seem? What if they were good to begin with? What caused them to act as they did? Why did they become the way they were?

This is where my imagination comes in! I want to look at other fairytales and their antagonists, and maybe write a prequel of sorts, or rewrite the story from the antagonist’s point of view. Of course, whatever I come up with will be the product of my imagination, and not something I think the original authors were trying to show in their stories.

This project is just a way to get me to write more, whilst looking deeper into pre-existing characters and imagining their life before their story was told. Hopefully I will be able to post some of the results of this project soon!
