Weekly Photo Challenge: Layered

P5050489_235 (1)

This week’s photo challenge is ‘layered‘. Whilst searching through my old photos, this one, of a bridge in Paris, caught my eye.

The Pont des Arts used to be centre of a tradition where couples fastened ‘love locks’ on the railings of the bridge and threw the key in the Seine. But apparently, this practice became illegal in 2015 when nearly a million locks, weighing a total of 45 tonnes, were removed from the bridge (BBC).

Even though the locks are now gone, I wonder how many of the couples are still together?

To me, the locks in the photo not only form physical layers, but each lock — clinging onto its little bit of the space — also has a story behind it. There are layers there, too.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on the subject! Thanks for visiting, and I hope to see you again soon.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Waiting

This week’s photo challenge is ‘waiting‘. I took this on a lazy afternoon some winters ago. Who knows who the open doors are inviting in?

Weekly Photo Challenge: The Road Taken

“Stop here whenever you are weary
And rest in a sanctuary

This week’s photo challenge is something found on the road taken. My parents and I visited Lake District a year or so ago, and explored a lot of it by walking.

We also walked to Wordsworth’s house. The above is a gate from there, and I thought the sign on it went well with the theme!
